Hopfgatern Ski Holidays

Hopfgarten im Brixental is a very pretty village with skiing which is better for beginner and intermediate skiers. However, part of the massive Ski Welt Pass which is inter-connected means there is easy access to skiing for all levels and abilities. The new Kitzbuheler Alpen Pass has been further expanded and is one of the five largest in the world.

There are eight black runs here totalling 11km, 50 red totalling 131km and 62 blue totalling 121km. In addition to this there are 25km of cross country trails to be enjoyed. This Austrian ski resort has access, which is direct to over 40 individual pistes which are reached by 20 ski lifts. The 20 ski lifts of Hopfgarten in Brixental are able to carry 20,000 skiers or snowboarders every hour so there shouldn’t be much queuing here.

Hopfgarten has the both the sunniest and the longest downhill runs, which are about eight kilometres, in the whole of the SkiWelt area. From the top to the bottom there is full snow making cover on all the runs and the Kelchsau ski area vary rarely has any queues for lifts. For beginners there are very good slopes located next to the village. The terrain for Intermediate skiers is practically limitless.

Hopfgarten is a part of the SkiWelt Wilder – Kaiser Brixental and it guarantees snow. The area’s motto, which is ‘the right slope for all inclinations’ underlines the wide range of runs here. Included in ski passes that are valid for three days or more is a KeyCard. This keycard gives access to all the ski lifts, hands-free and includes the slopes in the linked ski area – Kitzbuhel.

There are eight black runs here in Hopfgarten for advanced skiers to enjoy. Many say that one of the best is from the top of the H�he Salve. There is also an opportunity for you to sign up for a powder class with the ski school.

There are more than 30km of cross-country skiing tracks for cross country skiers to try out locally., plus the surrounding Wilder Kaise -Brixental region has a massive 170km of tracks to try out. At some 1300 metres, the high altitude circuit of Kelchsau, a neighbour nearby is worth a visit.

Snowboarders will enjoy demonstrating their skill and tricks on the superb free ride routes. Across the SkiWelt they have natural jumps. In 1996 a fun park was built here.

Nightlife

For Apres Ski Hopfgarten and the other Skiwelt villages close by offer real traditional Tyrolean Apres Ski that has a great party atmosphere. There are around six bars and a couple of night clubs here called � Cin Cin and 02. The Ski Welt resorts really push the boat out to try to keep Apres Ski a lot of fun and very warm and friendly. One initiative which is quite unique is called the Ski Bunny scheme. This allows any women that are looking for friends to advertise this by placing a free bunny sticker on their ski suit. The places for ski bunnies to meet and the times are on the lifts. You can also go bowling or ice skating after a day on the slopes if you still have the energy to do someting else.

Accommodation

The accommodation in the resort varies. If you want to go self catering this can be done by renting a ski chalet or holiday apartment. The friendly homely guesthouses offer bed and breakfast which means you can eat out in the evening at one of the many restaurants the resort has to offer. But if you want to relax on holiday and have it all done for you then there are plenty of high quality hotels that will be perfect. Some have swimming pools and spa facilities where you can be pampered to your heart’s content. Others are simply luxurious so you can simply relax after a day on the piste. Your holiday – your choice.

Getting There

Getting there couldn’t be easier as there are three airports within just two hours drive. So for a ski weekend, snowboard break or short ski holidays to Hopfgarten im Brixental it won’t be a problem. Innsbruck Airport and Munich Airport are just one hours drive away, which means you can be on those slopes sooner than you think.

Prior to skiing or snowboarding off-piste here it is essential that the local snow conditions are assessed as well as checking local Avalanche Risk Level. You should also ensure when sking that you take the relevant safety equipment with you.

Great resort for families and children. For young people that want lively Apres Ski they will probably find this resort a little quiet after a day on the piste.
