Guide to Chalets in Austria

The chalets come in all shapes and sizes, some are smaller and cater for 6 people, and some are huge and cater for 80, so it all depends on your personal taste. Many families or groups of friends will find a chalet big enough for their group and hire the entire chalet, however many couples and groups rather enjoy the larger chalets, where they can enjoy the friendly atmosphere, meet new friends and enjoy the sociable side of sharing a chalet.

Many chalets are adult only, so be sure your chalet caters for your little ones, and if they do you will find that they can probably eat earlier than the adults and any special dietary requests won’t be a problem, as long as you advise the chalet hosts before your arrival.

The beauty of a catered ski chalet in Austria is being able to spend as much time on the slopes as possible, then coming home to wonderful home made food and wine in a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The smaller chalets will usually have one chalet host who takes care of all your needs, do the cooking, housekeeping and is on hand 6 days a week.

The larger chalets will generally have a chalet chef and chalet assistants to help with the day to day running of the chalets. Most have 1 day off a week where you will be expected to cater for yourselves or enjoy a meal out in the village.

Chalet food is wonderful, breakfast is usually a healthy skiers breakfast offering a great selection of cereals, toast, one or two hot options and plenty tea, coffee and juice. After a day on the piste, come home to wonderful homemade cakes and pastries, tea and coffee. Then if you can possibly eat anymore, you can enjoy a hearty 3 course evening meal served with wine, usually a choice of menu is available too.

So for a hassle free ski holiday, great food and wine in unbeatable locations, a catered chalet in Austria is a perfect choice.
